At last month’s meeting in San Marcos, Wendy Silk’s friend Dave Nachmanoff mentioned Jim Ocean to me. I hadn’t heard of Jim, but it turns out that he has almost finished an album of songs about science, and that the first 11 tracks are available online. Jim and his wife Kathy also co-host a weekly radio show/podcast called The MetaQuizzical Cafe which airs Wednesdays from 9 to 11 PM Pacific time on KGGV in Guerneville, California. He writes:
If there’s songwriters or scientists who wanna appear on our radio show or have their songs played or books and ideas showcased let us know…. We can either host them here in person or do a phone interview and get their songs and stuff off the web. We record all our shows, though we have not started pod-casting our shows yet…. We have listeners all over the world and are particularly popular to an early-rising cadre of scientists in the London area since it’s 5 to 7am there when we’re on.
Jim can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or via the links above.
